Aims & scope
Journal of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, which has transferred to BioMed Central’s publishing platform, is an open access, peer-reviewed journal publishing on all aspects and sub-specialties of otolaryngology-head & neck surgery, including pediatric and geriatric otolaryngology, rhinology & anterior skull base surgery, otology/neurotology, facial plastic & reconstructive surgery, head & neck oncology, and maxillofacial rehabilitation, as well as a broad range of related topics.
The journal welcomes submissions of original articles focusing on research and clinical practices, on common and uncommon disorders and therapeutics, physicians' preferred technique and reviews of the literature.
Journal of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery articles published prior to 2013 can be accessed via Decker Publishing.
Editors' profiles
Dr Hadi Seikaly
Dr. Seikaly is a Professor of the Departments of Surgery and Oncology. He is the Divisional Director and Edmonton Zone Sections Head of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services. Dr. Seikaly is the Director of Head and Neck Surgery Functional Assessment Laboratory (HNSFAL) at the Institute of Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine and is the director of the Head and Neck Research Network. He has been a PI or collaborator on numerous research grants receiving funding from various agencies, including CIHR and Terry Fox Foundation. He has published over 100 peer reviewed papers and book chapters. Dr. Seikaly has a large practice dedicated to head, neck, and skull base oncology and reconstruction. His research interests include functional surgical and reconstructive outcomes, microvascular head and neck reconstruction, submandibular gland transfer medical modeling and digital surgical planning as it applies to the head and neck region.
Dr Erin Wright
Dr. Wright is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Alberta and is the director of the Alberta Sinus Centre. Dr. Wright is a fellow of the American Rhinologic Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and an active fellow of the Triological Society from whom he received the prestigious Harris P. Mosher Award in 2007 for outstanding clinical research. He is the Senior Director for Postgraduate Surgical Education in the Department of Surgery. Dr. Wright is extensively published with 57 peer-reviewed journal articles and 5 book chapters. His research interests include: outcomes research in rhinosinusitis, endoscopic management of sinonasal tumours and the study of underlying mechanisms of chronic rhinosinusitis.
